Joseph Gordon-Levitt Officially Joins THE DARK KNIGHT RISES!

It just keeps getting better…

After months of rumors and speculation, it is being officially reported today that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on for Christopher Nolan’s final Batman chapter, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES!

Levitt has worked with Nolan before on INCEPTION, and while it was known for some time that he was being sought out for a role, we still have no confirmation on the character.  Popular guesses include The Riddler, Deadshot, or Robin.  Deadshot, at the moment, seems most likely due to his association with the League of Shadows, and Nolan had said in past interviews that he will not be incorporating the Riddler into the movie.

If Levitt has been cast as a villain, this will make him the third or fourth villain after Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard as possibly Talia al Ghul (daughter of Liam Neeson’s Ra’s al Ghul) and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (although there is no confirmation if we’ll see her as Catwoman, and if she’ll be good or bad).

Variety also report that Warner Bros. is in negotiations with ATONEMENT’s Juno Temple to possibly play a street-smart Gotham girl.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is due out July 20, 2012.
