VIDEO: George Clooney and Father Arrested Outside of Sudanese Embassy

George Clooney and his father, journalist Nick Clooney, were arrested earlier today in front of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington DC.

No, this isn’t a movie script.  It’s real life.

George Clooney and his father, journalist Nick Clooney, were arrested earlier today in front of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington DC.

According to reports, the two were arrested by the uniformed division of the Secret Service for a misdemeanor offense of crossing a police line.  They were leading a protest over the Sudan crisis, along with others including Martin Luther King III, Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia and NAACP President Ben Jealous, all of whom were also arrested.

A statement from Clooney’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, read:

“They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”

Sources say that Clooney feels good about the arrest because it puts a spotlight on the crisis.
