Tommy Chong, the hysterical comedian and other half of the legendary pot-loving duo Cheech & Chong, has revealed that he is battling prostate cancer.

Chong told CNN Saturday in an interview that while he saw symptoms as far back as eight years ago, he was diagnosed “about a month ago,” saying,

“I’ve got prostate cancer, and I’m treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis…So [legalizing marijuana] means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested.”

The 74-year-old, who was talking to CNN’s Don Lemon about the fight to legalize marajuana, that his cancer is a “slow stage one [that I’ve] had for a long time … I know it had nothing to do with cannabis; cannabis is a cure.”

Chong he quit smoking pot about a year ago “for health reasons”, but still ingests hemp oil at night “so I won’t be woozy all day … I’m taking it as medicine.”

Chong and friend Cheech Marin appeared in several CHEECH AND CHONG films in the 1970s and 1980s. The two still continue to tour as a comedy act.

We wish him only the best with his recovery.
