Forget A Grace Period: Warner Bros Ready To Reboot Batman in 2016

Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy may be considered by many as the best superhero trilogy of all time, but that’s not stopping Warner Bros from trying to reboot the series as soon as possible…

Cosmic Book News is reporting that the WB is preparing to bring a new Batman film to theaters as soon as 2016 to work with their planned JUSTICE LEAGUE movie.  The studio realizes that if it can’t use Christopher Nolan’s Batman within their world, they need to reestablish a Batman they could use.  The source claims:

“It will not be an origin story, but will feature a Batman who is entering his second year as a hero. The film may also be called THE BATMAN, though I can’t be sure on that as the 2004 animated series was of the same title which featured a Batman in his third year.”

While it may be franchise suicide to try and reboot such a loved trilogy so soon, seeing a young Bruce Wayne in his second year is a bit different than what we’ve seen before.  At least we know we won’t have to deal with yet another origin story…

My question to you has to do with the big picture: do you think Warner Bros is doing the right thing with their attempt to rival Marvel’s universe, or should they just let everything be, and be happy that Christopher Nolan’s universe was as good as it was?
