In Supporting Obama, Madonna Incorrectly Refers To Him As Muslim…Then Claims She Was Being “Ironic.”

Madonna knows how to get headlines - but this probably wasn't her intention this time. The singer urged Americans to support President Barack Obama during her concert in Washington D.C. but incorrectly referred to him as a Muslim. After the story blew up online, she backtracked.

Madonna knows how to get headlines – but this probably wasn’t her intention this time. The singer urged Americans to support President Barack Obama during her concert in Washington D.C. but incorrectly referred to him as a Muslim.

In a profanity-laced political diatribe on freedom, she proclaimed: “Now, it’s so amazing and incredible to think that we have an African-American in the White House … we have a black Muslim in the White House … it means there is hope in this country, and Obama is fighting for gay rights, so support the man.”

Obama is Christian.

Also in the concert – a visual stunt – she ripped off her shirt to reveal the word OBAMA inked across her lower back in tramp stamp fashion. ugh.

Below is the expletive filled video… she ends her testimony with “For better or for worse, all right, we have a black Muslim in the White House, okay?”

After the internet blew up about the story, Madonna backtracked, saying she was being ‘ironic’ when she said it:

“I was being ironic on stage. Yes, I know Obama is not a Muslim – though I know that plenty of people in this country think he is. And what if he were?

“The point I was making is that a good man is a good man, no matter who he prays to. I don’t care what religion Obama is – nor should anyone else in America,” she said.
