COINCIDENCE? NASA’s New Space Suit Looks Suspiciously Like Buzz Lightyear’s.

NASA's Z-1 Prototype Spacesuit and Portable Life Support System, produced for the space agency by an outside company, is white with fluorescent green stripes and features a large, dome helmet just like Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear. Read on... it's probably not an accident.

NASA’s Z-1 Prototype Spacesuit and Portable Life Support System, produced for the space agency by David Clark company, which manufactures headsets, anti-G suits, and space suits, is white with fluorescent green stripes and features a large, dome helmet just like Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear. Read on… it’s probably not an accident.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the suit “is designed to take astronauts into long missions into deep space. It features a rear-entry port that gives galaxy-hopping space rangers an easy way to dock with shuttles and space stations without the need for an airlock … The Z-1 is a prototype, NASA stresses, and will be subject to further revisions before it’s actually put into use by the agency in 2017 — hopefully by which time the U.S. space program will be back in full swing.”

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Disney and NASA are working together to develop educational activities and exhibits centered around Buzz Lightyear’s fictional trip to live inside the International Space Station.  If Disney can’t revive interest in the Space Program, no one can!

It’s part of a program to increase kids’ interest in space travel and the sciences.
