Thousands Sign Petition To Deport Piers Morgan, Morgan Says “Bring It On”

Within a mere five days, almost 70,000 Americans have signed a petition calling for the deportation of talk show host Piers Morgan, all due to his beliefs concerning gun control.

Within a mere five days, almost 70,000 Americans have signed a petition calling for the deportation of talk show host Piers Morgan, all due to his beliefs concerning gun control.

Since the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy almost two weeks ago, the British CNN host has aggressively defended his belief of stricter gun laws in America, even calling a gun advocate who appeared on his show an “unbelievably stupid man.”

That comment and others have now gotten Morgan in a bit of trouble with gun activists.  A petition created on December 21 on the White House e-petition website accuses Morgan of engaging in a “hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution” and “exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

The petition would only need 25,000 signatures to garner a response from the White House.  At the time of this posting, the number stands at 69,378.

Morgan, however, seems completely immune to the cyber-attacks.  After tweeting the question, “If I do get deported from America for wanting fewer gun murders, are there any other countries that will have me?” he retweeted the responses of followers from a number of countries welcoming him, including Malaysia, The Philippines, Australia and Sierra Leone.  He also expressed his disgust with the growing number of shooting deaths over the past few weeks, including the death of two firefighters as they tried to put out a fire this past Monday, writing,

“Americans murdered with assault weapons in movie theaters, temples, schools, shopping malls – now, as they put out fires. Where does it end?  Come on America, ENOUGH: Ban assault weapons & high-capacity magazines, and enforce background checks on 100% of gun sales. Do it now.”

So whose side are you on?  Are you one of the thousands who will be putting their name to the petition, or does citizenship not make a difference to you when it comes to the deaths of innocent thousands every year by gunfire?
