Deadline is reporting that Bad Robot partners JJ Abrams and Bryan Burk have just acquired the screen rights for “Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong”, a proposal for a book that will be written by Juliet Macur for HarperCollins.

Macur, a sports reporter for The New York Times, has covered Armstrong for over a decade, from his cancer recovery to his cycling wins, all the way to last week’s admission to Oprah that he was doping the entire time.

Ironically enough, Sony Pictures had a Lance Armstrong project in the works a few years ago, which would have featured Jake Gyllenhaal playing the cyclist in a heroic story of overcoming incredible odds…

Something tells me this story will be very different…
