Alicia Silverstone Speaks Out on Toddler Feeding YouTube Video

Alicia Silverstone illicited a collective “EWWWWW” from much of the country recently when the she posted a video of herself feeding her son chewed food directly from her mouth. But she stands by her choice to make like a bird and mouth a meal to her little one.

While most folks screamed with disdain, not everyone opposed her behavior. Those in support of Silverstone say a mother’s saliva contains enzymes that help a child’s immune system – but some doctors voiced concern that a mother’s saliva also can contain disease… infections, herpes, sores and more. 

Silverstone stood by her behavior in a recent interview. According to TheInsider.com, she said: “I wasn’t trying to be independent or cause a ruckus -– I’m very glad I did it… People have been feeding their kids that way for thousands of years … It’s a weaning process. … I think it’s adorable and I laugh every time he does it.”
