Clint Eastwood’s HEREAFTER Pulled From Japanese Theaters After Tsunami

After the horrible events of this weekend, Clint Eastwood’s HEREAFTER has been pulled from Japanese cinemas indefinitely.

For anyone who hasn’t seen the film, the opening scene graphically depicts the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami that crippled Southeast Asia.

Satoru Otani, a Warner Entertainment Japan Inc. official, says the tsunami scenes render the film “not appropriate” for Japanese audiences.

The film, starring Matt Damon, premiered in the U.S. in October 2010; it debuted in Japan in February, playing on roughly 180 screens and was initially set to play through March.
