Yeah, the title may sound wrong, but the story is actually kind of sweet…
Evan Rachel Wood is one of the best young actresses out there, and in her newest role in HBO’s MILDRED PIERCE, she plays the daughter of screen icon Kate Winslet. Yet, with such a risqué role came Wood’s first ever nude scene, and Winslet was there every step of the way to take care of her and coach her through. Wood told E! News at Monday’s premiere:
“She coached me through my first nude scene…I mean, she’s done it all. She was literally next to the camera going [thumbs-up].”
Another piece of advice from Winslet: cover up as much as possible:
“I looked at Kate and she was like, ‘You’ve got to do it. Trust me, it’s so brave…‘Put a merkin [pubic wig] on and you’ll be fine.'”
Winslet, the star of TITANIC and THE READER, among many, many others, said that for such a big part of a young actress’ career, she had to be there for her:
“You keep the room as empty as possible…Just kind of being there for her, really, and letting her know there was someone to hold her hand and throw a robe over her at the right moment…made her feel better.”
