Mickey Rourke Trashes Two of His Own Upcoming Movies…Probably Not the Best Publicity…

Mickey Rourke came back with a vengeance in THE WRESTLER, and it looked like he was back on the A-list.  And then, he starts doing straight-to-DVD stuff for the money, and suddenly, the respect level falls a bit.

The actor recently had an interview with Vulture about his upcoming films, 13 (with 50 Cent), and PASSION PLAY (with Bill Murray and Megan Fox). Both trailers are below, and as you will see, neither really looks amazing (although I was intrigued by Bill Murray in PASSION PLAY).  And Rourke doesn’t deny this:

You guys (50 Cent) are in a movie together, right?

A really bad movie, yeah.

What?! Is it out?

No, it’s so bad it can’t get out.

Tell me why you made it.

For the money.

But you think the movie’s bad.

Terrible.

Why?

You have to watch it.

What about your movie with Megan Fox and Bill Murray?

Terrible. Another terrible movie. But, you know, in your career and all the movies you make, you’re going to make dozens of terrible ones.

You called Megan Fox, like, one of the best actresses of all time.

That I worked with [smirk].

That movie’s getting limited release.

That’s because it’s not very good.

It’s really sad to hear an actor say that he’s doing his films for the money and that he’ll have “dozens” of terrible ones.  I disagree completely, but at the same time, with how far Rourke has come back, I could understand him doing things to bring in the security of a paycheck.  On the plus side, the actor did say that his next movie about Rugby will be a great one, so here’s to hoping that he’ll be back on top soon.

Check out the trailers below and let us know what you think
