Want to See Roland Emmerich’s Take on Shakespeare? Here’s the Trailer for ANONYMOUS

Roland Emmerich is a man not really known for his drama senses.  His movies have been that of epic disaster proportions: 2012, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, 10,000 BC and INDEPENDENCE DAY just to name a few.

So when the man comes out with a period piece about William Shakespeare, it’s a bit of a jump.

The new movie, titled ANONYMOUS, is not based on any specific Shakespeare play, but a hypothetical story asking what if  Shakespeare never actually wrote anything?

Check out the trailer below, and see if you’d be on board with what seems to be Emmerich’s deepest movie since THE PATRIOT.
