VIDEO: Car Covering Tour De France Hits Cyclists While Avoiding Tree.

Shut up. No he didn't! Oh yes he did. A car covering the Tour de France swerved (a bit much) to avoid a tree, and hit two cyclists instead, sending Juan Antonio Flecha and Johnny Hoogerland to the ground. They were in the lead when it happened.

Shut up. No he didn’t! Oh yes he did. A car covering the Tour de France swerved (a bit much) to avoid a tree, and hit two cyclists instead, sending Juan Antonio Flecha and Johnny Hoogerland to the ground. They were in the lead when it happened.

Both were injured, but eventually rejoined the race.  The car and driver were banned from the Tour.

Even though Hoogerland landed on a barbed wire fence and cut his legs up, he still managed to reclaim his King of the Mountains crown – the title given to the best climber in a cycling road race.
