Universal Studios knew they’d have to pay up to lock in the cast of American Pie’s sequel American Reunion. But as career trajectories rise and fall – so do the salaries! Check out who got $5 million bucks for the film – and who got just $250,000.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, making the movie was contingent on keeping the budget well under control. The last installment came in at $55 million, and this one was given $50 million to make it happen. Production was moved to Georgia for a great tax credit. Then they played hardball with the cast about just how much they were going to get paid, just who was and wasn’t crucial to the story, and then the money started getting locked in.

Even though Universal denies the report, sources say Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott got the biggest payout – $5 million each, plus a portion of box office. Alyson Hannigan, star of CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, is getting about $3 million. Eugene Levy also got something in the $3 million range. (He did a bunch of straight to DVD extensions of the film. Who knew? Apparently they brought the studio a lot of cash.Go figure.

Then there are the supporting players – whom the studio argued could potentially be absent from the reunion and still keep the movie afloat – It was a matter of getting as many of them as possible without cowering to big pay demands. Chris Klein, (whose atrocious audition for “Mama Mia” became an internet sensation when video surfaced online) is receiving far less… somewhere in the  $550K to $750K range. Also in this range are fellow castmembers who don’t have a lot of projects right now – like Eddie Kaye Thomas, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Natasha Lyonne, Mena Suvari and Shannon Elizabeth. Jennifer Coolidge, the “MILF” character in the series, is also in this range. All of them are likely to get pay bumps if the film is a hit.

Sadly, it is Tara Reid, who has struggled both personally and professionally in recent years, who jumped at the initial offer of $250,000.

“American Reunion” comes out this April.
