I love a celeb who isn’t afraid to make fun of themselves.

Foodie Ted Allen, known as the host of “Chopped” and formerly “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy,” made a hilarious cameo on The Onion’s faux morning show “Today Now!” as himself – parodying the often ridiculous dishes TV personalities tout on television.

Introduced as the author of “Prententious Foodie Bullsh*t!” he goes on to share a ridiculous recipe that eventually even he himself cannot stand. (expect some expletives along the way…)

Host Jim: What sort of stupid, over-elaborate, fancy-ass meal are you going to make for us today?

Ted Allen: Well, we are going to cook one of the very most pretentious dishes in my cookbook. It’s a stupid ass trendy piece of fish coated in some kind of nut you’ve never heard of, served alongside a puree of baby something or other.

Host Tracy: Ooh, sounds annoying! … And now I assume that these other ingredients are organic, and locally sourced and all that bullsh*t?

In my opinion, it’s a pretty smart move for this already likeable guy to show his irreverent side – the people that aren’t into this kind of thing aren’t likely to find it.

The video is below, as you can see, there’s some salty language, so keep that in mind!

  • I didn’t think it was possible to love Ted Allen even more than I did before I saw this. Now I shall curtsy next time I see him!
