Michelle Williams Wins Golden Globe, Sends Loving Message To Daughter

“My Week With Marilyn” may have been an oddball in the ‘Best Comedy Or Musical” Golden Globe category, but it didn’t stop voters from honoring Michelle Williams with the award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.

In her heartfelt speech, Williams thanked the young lady closest to her, six year old Matilda Rose Ledger, the daughter she had with actor Heath Ledger, who died in 2008.

“I consider myself a mother first and an actress second and so the person I most want to thank is my daughter, my little girl whose bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and in my life.

And I want to thank you for sending me off to this job every day with a hug and a kiss…I couldn’t have done it otherwise, and making me so excited to come home at night… and for suffering through six months of bedtime stories where all the princesses were read aloud in a Marilyn Monroe sounding voice!”

For those of you who haven’t seen “My Week with Marilyn,” you should take the opportunity to check it out…Williams turns out a spectacular, detailed and nuanced performance. Below, the trailer and some selected clips.
