While the Grammys were sprinkled with nods to Whitney Houston from performers and winners, the show’s official, most touching tribute was a simple and dignified musical performance of her iconic hit I Will Always Love You, sung by Jennifer Hudson. (Video below for as long as youtube allows!)

Hudson, who sang the song in an understated but powerful way, had met Houston a few times before. In 2009, Houston presented Hudson with the prize for Best R&B Album, and Hudson later paid tribute to Houston at a BET Honors show in 2010.
