Warner Bros Execs Wanted Leonardo DiCaprio As The Riddler For DARK KNIGHT RISES

This is one of those moments where you have to wonder...how could things have been if executives got their way?

This is one of those moments where you have to wonder…how could things have been if executives got their way?

In a new interview with Empire magazine, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES writer David Goyer said that when THE DARK KNIGHT became a colossal hit in theaters, Warners Bros immediately wanted a sequel.  While the plan was always to give Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan and Goyer complete control of the story, some eager execs had their own ideas.

Goyer reports that certain people told him that the villain was “going to be The Riddler, and we want it to be Leonardo DiCaprio.”

Obviously we know how that turned out…whether it be a mark of rebellion or just an amazing coincidence, Nolan cased almost every other actor from INCEPTION except for DiCaprio.

Which leads us to wonder…how the hell would the movie have turned out if execs got their way?  Would DiCaprio have been good as the Riddler?  Would Nolan have really cared about the movie?  Would the movie have been anywhere near good?

From what I hear, things all turned out okay as they are…
