UPDATE: Dane Cook Apologizes for Batman Massacre Joke

There are a lot of opinions about tragic events and standup comedy. Some believe that certain subjects should be completely off limits. Comics themselves will argue that standup is the one place where anything goes... Others say an incident like this is all about timing - and this might be 'too soon'. Wherever you stand, here's the fact: Dane Cook went there.

UPDATE: It seems like Dane Cook has come to his sense.

The comedian issued an apology on his Twitter feed, saying that he completely regrets telling the joke:

“I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado & did not mean to make light of what happened.”

“I made a bad judgment call with my material last night & regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families & friends of the victims.”

DailyCaller.com has obtained footage of comedian Dane Cook at the Laugh Factory on Sunset Boulevard last night, using the Colorado shooting tragedy as material for his standup act.

On the video, Cook can be heard saying that even if James Holmes didn’t start shooting 25 minutes into THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the movie is so bad that someone would have wished to be shot.

While there were some laughs in the crowd, there were definitely some groans as well.

Listen to the footage below, and let us know what you think.

The Aurora, Colorado massacre, which killed 12 people and injured 58, occurred exactly one week ago today.

  • Like Zsa Zsa and Larry Hagman, I’m simply surprised to hear that Dane Cook is still around.
