After the Penn State scandal that rocked college football last year, it’s no surprise that a film based on Joe Posnanski’s biography, “Paterno” is in the works.  And now, we are getting word that Al Pacino is getting ready to play the part of the shamed coaching legend.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the film is currently being shopped around to producers and studios by ICM Partners with Pacino’s manager, Rick Nicita, attached to produce.

The 85-year-old Paterno passed away in January after a long battle with lung cancer.  He was a revered Hall of Fame coach until his legacy was forever tarnished by sex abuse charges  brought against defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky last November.
