Christian Bale Makes One Sick Boy’s Dream Of Meeting Batman Come True

Christian Bale may only be the actor playing Batman on film, but to one little boy and his family, he just became the superhero they’ve all been waiting for.

Christian Bale may only be the actor playing Batman on film, but to one little boy and his family, he just became the superhero they’ve all been waiting for.

Four-year-old Jayden Barber had been undergoing chemotherapy for bone cancer for the last two years when his family suddenly found out that he had been diagnosed with a second cancer: MDS leukemia.  This time, however, doctors told Jayden and his family that Jayden had “five to six good weeks” before he would be bedridden and only another six months before he would die.

The family started giving Jayden everything on his wishlist to make him feel comfortable, including a new puppy and a vacation at the beach.  But there was one gift they didn’t know how they’d make come true: have the four-year-old meet Batman.

Jayden’s hometown of Youngstown, Ohio had an idea.  They put together a Facebook page called “Lighting the Bat Signal for Jayden”, hoping that Christian Bale would somehow learn of Jayden’s condition and come to see him.

It worked.

This past Friday, Jayden’s mother, Charlene posted a picture on the “Lighting the Batsignal for Jayden” Facebook page of Jayden and Bale, writing:

“Finally can share!!! Christian sent us to LA and we had lunch at Disney club 33 on wed,” “He and his family were so awesome and down to earth!!!”

Charlene continued by telling of her son’s experience, saying that Bale’s family was nothing short of extraordinary:

“The entire interaction was like old friends having lunch. Jayden did not get star struck but was well aware of who we were with…They talked movies and super Heros an he was genuinely happy to hear about everything Jayden wanted to tell him. Christian, his wife and daughter are three of the most beautiful people we have ever met! Christian made these arrangements for us personally and ensured we were treated like royalty. I don’t have even one negative thing to say about them. I can tell you that they were just as impressed w Jayden as Jayden was w them :)”

And if that’s not enough to bring tears to your eyes, Jayden and his family received the news around his fifth birthday that his cancer is in remission. And while they are not ready to celebrate because it has gone into remission many times before, it is definitely a step in the right direction.
