LeAnn Rimes is having one hell of a week…

Only one day after telling the world that she was checking herself into a treatment facility for stress, Access Hollywood is reporting that the singer is suing two women who allegedly recorded a phone conversation and posted snippets online.

Sources says that Rimes is seeking more than $25,000 in damages from Kimberly Smiley and her daughter Lexi for recording a phone conversation back in March that ended on websites bashing her. The lawsuit states:

“The making of the unauthorized recording and the posting of it and edited excerpts of it on various websites have resulted in a public and damaging depiction of Ms. Rimes, have harmed her reputation and personal relationships, and have caused her emotional distress.”

Kimberly Smiley denied the actual posting of the recording, saying,

“The whole thing is just ridiculous…It’s just a celebrity who’s too full of herself.”

But what she did confirm was that she shared it with online acquaintances, one of whom played it for the ex-wife of Rimes’ husband, Eddie Cibrian.

The recorded phone call occurred when Rimes’ friend  connected her to Smiley to try to stop some negative online postings.  It is illegal in California for a party to record a phone call without the other person’s knowledge.

Rimes’ lawsuit states the singer is entitled to triple her actual damages if she wins at trial, and she is also seeking punitive damages and an order blocking the recording from being distributed further.
