VIDEO: Watch This Amazing Live Shot-By-Shot Remake of TOY STORY!
We all know how precious and heartwarming the original TOY STORY is. No matter how old we get, seeing Buzz, Woody, and the entire gang trying to survive inside and out of Andy’s room will always hold a special place in our hearts.
That feeling is especially true for two young filmmakers who’ve decided to show their love for the trilogy in a completely new way.
19-year-old Jonason Pauley and 21-year-old Jesse Perrotta always dreamed of visiting Disney and Pixar studios, for nothing more than to just rub shoulders with their heroes and see where their favorite films were created. So one day back in 2010, they came up with a brilliant plan: show their love by recreating TOY STORY shot-by-shot, completely live.
The result, “Live Action Toy Story” is now on YouTube, and after only two days on the web, it has already gathered 1.5 million views!
So how did Pauley and Perrotta pull off such a feat? The East Valley Tribune is reporting that the two kids used two rooms in Pauley’s parents’ Northern California home as Andy and Sid’s rooms (where they did most of the filming), and a local pizzeria and arcade for Pizza Planet. With the help of about 150 friends and family, the two managed to film the entire project for just about $1,000! (Now if only Hollywood could find out how to make movies for that cheap!)
Pixar has yet to comment on the tribute, although they have confirmed that they’ve seen the footage. Pixar filmmaker Lee Unkrich (who edited the original film and directed the third installment) already retweeted the link, writing, “Live action Toy Story (re)made by some VERY dedicated guys…@RealiveToyStory”
As for Perrotta and Pauley, Perrotta says all they want is to get their adaptation out there for people to enjoy:
“We have so much respect for Pixar, we don’t want to do anything without their consent…All I really wish is that our fans get to see it someday. I just want everybody to see this movie one way or another.”
