Have you always wondered what it would take to be able to play on stage with Billy Joel?
For one college freshman, all it took was a little guts, and a question.
Vanderbilt University freshman Michael Pollack attended a concert and Q&A session with Joel back in January, where he actually mustered up the bravery to ask Joel if he’d be up for a little duet:
“My favorite song of yours is ‘New York State of Mind’…I was very fortunate to play with Richie Cannata [Joel’s saxophone player] many times in New York City and I was wondering if I could play it with you.”
Without any hesitation, Joel was in, and Pollack headed up to the stage. And the rest is a night to remember…
