The music, film, and interactive conference South By Southwest has been going on all week, and plenty of movie projects have been getting attention. Among them, the remake of Sam Raimi’s EVIL DEAD.

After the film was shown to an audience, director Fede Alvarez said he is already working on a sequel. Movie Pilot interviewed both Alvarez and the film’s lead Jane Levy (“Surburgatory”) and asked about the sequel. While it is only in the begininning stages, they are already preparing, and plan on bringing Levy back as the lead.

EVIL DEAD is a remake of the classic starring Bruce Campbell – who was actually a producer of the remake. Mia (Levy) is struggling with sobriety – with the help of her brother and a few friends heads to a remote cabin, while there they discover a book of the dead. After reading a passage from the book they awaken demons who take control of each of them until one is left to fight for survival.

The movie was written and directed by Alvarez, who also had help writing the script from Diablo Cody (JUNO). Raimi and Campbell were both hands-on producers for the movie, which hits theaters April 5th.
