Earlier this week a team of producers were reportedly assigned to ensure famously late Mariah Carey would get her to New York’s Times Square in time to perform before the ball drops at midnight. Some of those producers should instead have been assigned to the performance itself.

As the song ‘Emotions’ started playing, Mariah stood defiantly, not singing other than a phrase or two, mostly commenting on something missing from her track. (Perhaps her tracked vocals intended for lip syncing, although the highest notes she was once known for were definitely on the track, ensuring at least they’d sound perfect.)

After pacing and ranting, it was clear that the segment had gone from musical performance to performance art. (And not in a good way, unless you like watching train wrecks!)
