POP NEWS: ‘Killing Eve’ Gets Renewed For Second Season Before First One Premieres

Have we not learned by now that Cristina Yang cannot be stopped?!

Sandra Oh’s new show, Killing Eve, has been picked up for a second season…3 days before the premiere of the first season! Based on the Villanelle novels by Luke Jennings, the show’s premise revolves around Oh’s character, Eve Polastri, as she departs from her desk job as an M15 officer and begins to hunt the talented, yet unstable, assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). In the process of the hunt, both women develop an obsession for one another, only entangling the two even further. This storyline is a far stretch from Oh’s days in the O.R. playing (the best character ever created) Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy. Although her suturing skills could sure come in handy…

In any event, the much anticipated series has received so much notoriety from critics that it has inclined BBC America to renew the show before it has even premiered. Increasing the desire for renewal, the show not only stars two women at the core of its plot but is also has a female executive producer, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. BBC America president, Sarah Barnett, released a statement on the renewal saying:

“This show has the thunder of women on both sides of the chase in Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer and, importantly, behind the camera with the lavishly brilliant Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The early response to ‘Killing Eve’ has been incredible — for that reason, as well as the fact that we wholeheartedly love this original, funny, thrillingly entertaining series, we are delighted to move ahead with a second season before we even premiere.”

The show sounds like a hit, and with the added confidence from the network I am sure Killing Eve will be the hot new show of the season. Take a look at the trailer below!
