America’s former favorite father was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison for sexual assault. Five months ago Bill Cosby was found guilty on three counts of aggravated, indecent assault for drugging and sexually abusing Andrea Constand. Although there have now been dozens of women who have come forward with similar allegations, Constand’s case was the only one still within the statute of limitations.
Constand worked at Temple University when she first met Cosby and described him as a mentor. According to the testimony, Cosby manipulated that role to assault Constand in his home in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania back in 2004. Of the ordeal she said:
“Bill Cosby took my beautiful, healthy young spirit and crushed it. He robbed me of my health and vitality, my open nature, and my trust in myself and others.”
In addition to the sentencing the judge charged Cosby a $25,000 fine and ordered him to pay for the cost of his prosecution. Cosby’s request for bail was rejected so he was cuffed and incarcerated immediately.
