When Mike Sorrentino donned the nickname “The Situation,” he probably never thought it would refer to his legal troubles. The star of the hit reality show, Jersey Shore, was indicted with multiple tax offenses related to his $9 million income back in 2014.

In January Sorrentino pled guilty for tax evasion and was originally facing a maximum of 5 years in prison, a sentence even prosecutors felt was too extreme. The original sentence hearing was schedule for April 25th but was pushed back after Sorrentino’s lawyer submitted a request for extra time. The delay in the hearing was still not enough to fully sway the court as Sorrentino was officially sentenced with 8 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release. Sorrentino’s brother, Marc, who was indicted on the same charges, has been sentenced to 2 years in prison and a $75 thousand fine.

Since the legal troubles first appeared, Sorrentino has reunited with his reality show cast mates for a new series entitled Jersey Shore:Family Vacation. With the court’s approval, he has been able to film in both Nevada and Florida. Supporting him in court today were cast mates Pauly D, Ronnie, JWoww, Vinnie, Snooki and Deena.

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation airs on Thursdays on MTV.
