SNEAK PEEK: Roseanne Who? Looks Like ‘The Conners’ Are Doing Just Fine

We can all agree that fall is the truly best time for television. It’s the time of year when all of our favorite shows kick off their new seasons and we can once again look forward to quiet nights in front of the television. Sometimes, however, your favorite show gets canceled because it’s eponymous star tweets out racism and then blames it on a popular sleeping pill.

Last year, the beloved sitcom Roseanne rebooted and shattered television ratings with a whopping 25 million viewers for it’s series premiere. Then, over the summer, Roseanne Barr released a tweet comparing a former Obama aide to a cast member from Planet Of The Apes. The tweet became viral by morning and ABC Network officials swiftly canceled the hit revival. After months of speculation it was announced that the show’s cancellation would warrant a spinoff that would not include Barr in any way. That show is entitled The Conners and will follow the rest of the Conner family as they deal with the death of their matriarch. Here’s the official series synopsis:

After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family — Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. — grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.

Fans and critics alike have been wondering if this spinoff will be able to live up to the success of the revival, Well from the newly released promo, it just might. All of the other Conners are back for this new series including fan favorites Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert and John Goodman. Complete side note, Dr. Richard Webber aka James Pickens Jr. is reviving his role as Dan Conner’s good buddy! Check out the chief double dipping into that ABC money. Anyway, the promo is lighthearted and fun regardless of it’s obligation to handle Roseanne’s death, which means we can still expect a lot of laughs.

The Conners premiers on October 16th, in the meantime check out the promo below!
