TRAILER: The Man In The Red Suit This Holiday Season Isn’t Santa Claus In “Once Upon A Deadpool”

Ryan Reynolds has turned the sarcastic, sometimes cruel, anti-hero Deadpool into one of the most beloved characters amongst any superhero film. His passion towards the character has transcended the screen into the hearts of most audiences. I say “most” because Deadpool and Deadpool are rated R, so those 16 and under have no idea what made these films so epic…until now.

Starting on December 12th, for 12 days there will be a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 that will hit theaters nationwide. This new version will be “filtered through the prism of childlike innocence” and will be released as Once Upon A Deadpool. Back in 2006, FOX originally wanted the first film to have a family friendly rating but Reynolds insisted the film stay true to gritty character Marvel created. Reynolds agreed to the new rating and edits under two conditions:

“First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, [Reynolds] wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”

Incorporating an American sweetheart like Savage makes bizarrely entertaining in the way we’ve come to expect from Deadpool. The release of the film will feature new scenes involving Savage acting as the storyteller a la The Princess Bride. For every ticket sold $1 will go to the “Fudge Cancer” charity, who have changed their name to something more PG-13 just for this event.

Check out the hilarious trailer below and be sure to hit theaters for 12 Days Of Deadpool!
