My holiday spirit runneth over today because I spent last night at the legendary Apollo Theater. All of 125th street was rejoicing as Broadway beauties Shoshana Bean and Cynthia Erivo brought down the house with their holiday concert, Night Divine. And trust me, these two queens came to sleigh.
These two performing powerhouses brought the audience to their feet…to tears…and even to church because I’m pretty sure I caught the Holy Ghost at least three times. The one night event offered something for everyone as the duo kicked off the night with a festive Hanukkah number.
Shoshana, who has been wowing fans for nearly two decades, belted out show stopper after show stopper during her second time headlining at the iconic theater. There was a collective gasp when she belted out her rendition of “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Cynthia, Broadway vet and certified movie star (hello Widows!), stunned with her perfectly controlled vocals. It wasn’t even the holidays until I heard her sing “The Christmas Song.”
The ladies proved that more is truly merrier as they brought some huge guest stars to the stage. Fans fell out of their seats when Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr., Glee‘s Matthew Morrison and Pentatonix star Scott Hoying stopped by to spread holiday cheer.
As if that wasn’t enough, Michael McElroy and his Broadway Inspirational Voices brought the entire theater to it’s feet with an inspiring showstopper. Full disclosure the clip below cuts out short because I needed both hands to give with my strongest church clap.
While the entire 90 minute concert was inspiring, nothing beat watching these two genuine friends close the show with a beautiful rendition of ‘O Holy Night.’
I am so holly jolly today even those Macy’s elves would roll their eyes. But I can’t help it! If you want to stay in the know with this dynamic duo follow Shoshana Bean here and Cynthia Erivo here!
