Melissa McCarthy has been keeping us in stitches ever since her Gilmore Girls days so I know she will find the humor in being nominated for both an Oscar and a Razzie on the same day.

The 2019 Oscar nominations just came out and I was thrilled to see Melissa McCarthy rightly receive a nomination for Can You Ever Forgive Me?. Shortly after the Oscar noms were released, the Golden Raspberry Award nominations (mock awards given to the worst films) were released as well with McCarthy nabbing a nom for Worst Actress for the film The Happytime Murders. PLOT TWIST! While some might be offended by a Razzie Nom, McCarthy should be proud of her admittance into the exclusive club. Only a handful of celebrities have ever been nominated for both an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year and the last to win both was Sandra Bullock back in 2010. And Bullock bounced back just fine…have you seen Bird Box?! If nothing else, the a nomination for both the best and worst just magnifies McCarthy’s range even further. She is able to take on a serious role and captivate the prestigious academy…

…while simultaneously have some fun in a lewd, puppet movie.

Congrats to the Oscar hopeful! I will gladly watch whatever film Melissa McCarthy stars in next…whether it’s a serious drama or a horrifyingly graphic, rated R, puppet show.
