The New York Times Did Not Like Guy Fieri’s New Times Square Restaraunt…Not One Bit - POP GOES THE WEEK!!

The New York Times Did Not Like Guy Fieri’s New Times Square Restaraunt…Not One Bit

The New York Times wrote an almost humorous review for Guy Fieri's Time Square Restaurant.

80% of all NYC eatery’s close in there first 5 years, and I can only imagine that some of those closures are based on poor reviews…right?

Well that must be horrible new for the face of the Food Network, and host of popular food show “Diners, Drive-In’s, and Dives” Guy Fieri.

Fieri just recently opened his “Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar” in Times Square and NY Times sent writer Pete Wells to take a look and write it up. It turns out that Wells (to put it lightly) wasn’t a fan of the restaurant, and now, that article has gone viral!

There are plenty of ways to write a review, but what makes this one so special is, Wells writes the whole article in a series of long and mostly rhetorical questions. Some wonderful examples are:

–“Did panic grip your soul as you stared into the whirling hypno wheel of the menu, where adjectives and nouns spin in a crazy vortex?”

–“Hey, did you try that blue drink, the one that glows like nuclear waste?”

–“The watermelon margarita? Any idea why it tastes like some combination of radiator fluid and formaldehyde?”

As you can tell, Wells is not shy, dishonest, or careful to show how he feels, but the review basically lambastes everything about the restaurant from the ambiance, to the service, to almost everything tried on the menu!

Now we are all waiting patiently to hear Mr. Fieri’s reaction and to see how this effects the brand new restaurant.

What do you think of the review? How will it affect a place that is more of a tourist attraction then a spot for New Yorkers?
