Actress Rosie Perez, best known for roles in movies like WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP and Perdita Durango, her dance work, and her voice, is now suing “Law and Order: SVU” for injuries sustained while working on the show in 2009.
According to the NY Daily News, Perez was filming a guest role on the crime drama, when a scene called for an extra to forcibly shake her. Apparently, the extra was way too eager to shake Rosie, because he became so violent, he caused a herniated disc that took two surgeries to correct.
Perez’s lawyer, Brian O’Dwyer, gave a statement:
“The thing to do was taking someone who knows what he’s doing to make it look violent without being violent…This person was not a stuntman, he was just an extra.”
Perez continued to work on the episode, which had her in the role of a young sexual abuse victim’s mother.
