Aretha Franklin Calls Off Wedding, Says Things Were Moving Too Fast

Turns out the Queen of Soul will not be getting her king after all…

According to Access Hollywood, Aretha Franklin has called off her engagement.

In a statement released Monday, a rep for the soul singer said that things were moving too fast for her and boyfriend Willie Wilkerson, and “a number of things” weren’t thought through as they should have been.

Don’t expect any comments, however, due to “the very personal and sensitive nature of it.”

Franklin announced the marriage earlier this month.
