MSNBC is reporting that the hit singing show has recruited a number of new mentors for its third season, including Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, Matchbox Twenty lead Rob Thomas, Michael Buble, and Mary J. Blige!

The show’s staff tweeted out the news about Armstrong late Thursday night, saying:

“Welcome Billie Joe (@BJAofficial) to #TeamXtina! We are ready to rock out in Season 3.”

As for the other three mentors, Rob Thomas will be attached to Cee Lo Green’s team, Mary J. Blige will be the right hand of Adam Levine, and Michael Buble will be throwing his hat behind Blake Shelton’s team.

Armstrong started taping Wednesday on “The Voice,” which has been in production since June.

Green Day has three albums coming out over the next year, the first of which, “Uno!”, is set to be released September 25. The band also is releasing two documentaries to coincide with the new album trilogy.

The third season of “The Voice” premieres September 10 on NBC.
