THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Will Be Getting Its Well Deserved Sequel
After a dismal box office return for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, many were wondering if Sony Pictures was even going to try and move ahead with the planned sequels. Today, after much waiting, the studio has finally revealed that the answer is yes.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Sony is ready to move forward with THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE, the second entry in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series. Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are contractually obligated to return, however, original director Fincher will have to work out a brand new contract.
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO grossed $232 million globally on a $90 million budget. (It’s almost sad that that’s considered a disappointment, no?) Screenwriter Steven Zaillian is currently working on the new script.
