The Dude. It’s a character that will live in audiences’ minds forever. Yet what many people don’t know is that Joel and Ethan Coen’s cult classic, THE BIG LEBOWSKI is not entirely fiction, but based on a man just as slick and cool as Jeff Bridges made him out to be.
Jeff Dowd may not be as familiar of a name to you, but I assure you, even after two decades, he is still the one and only Dude. And now, he is the subject of a new documentary short by filmmaker Jeff Feuerzeig, who shows the road Dowd’s life took to get him where is his today, including time as a 1970s anti-war activist and meeting a young Robert Redford in the early days of his Sundance Film Festival.
The documentary, appropriately titled THE DUDE, is only a short 18 minutes, and a must see for all LEBOWSKI fans, and I urge you to check it out right here.
