Danny Boyle’s 28 MONTHS LATER is Dead…For Now - POP GOES THE WEEK!!

Danny Boyle’s 28 MONTHS LATER is Dead…For Now

According to Director/Producer Alex Garland, the 28 WEEKS LATER sequel is not happening.

Ever since 28 WEEKS LATER hit theaters back in 2007, everyone was wondering if there would be a third entry to round off Danny Boyle’s horror series.  Sadly, that will not be the case…for now.

The film’s producer, Alex Garland, spoke to Dread Central recently about the sequel, tentatively titled 28 MONTHS LATER, and claims that, “There are no plans for ’28 Months Later’…This is a series I’ve always been heavily involved with between the original and the sequel so if there were plans for another movie, I would absolutely know about it.”

28 DAYS LATER hit theaters in 2002 and introduced Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris to American audiences. 28 WEEKS LATER hit theaters in 2007 and boasted a young Jeremy Renner, Rose Byrne, Idris Elba and Robert Carlyle (ABC’s “Once Upon A Time). After 28 WEEKS was finished in theaters, producer Alex Garland said it would be nearly impossible to make a sequel due to the fact that the producers, and the owners of the films rights, were no longer speaking, but director Boyle later refuted that statement, saying he would begin working on the project as soon as he was done working on the 2012 Olympics.

So how long do we have to wait for this zombie project to come back from the dead?  Apparently a lot longer than thirty seconds…
