Legendary Singer Andy Williams Is Dead at 84
Sad news to report today in the world of music…legendary singer Andy Williams has died.
Williams publicist revealed that the singer passed away after a yearlong battle with bladder cancer.
With almost 75 years in show business, Williams basically ruled the entertainment world in the 1960s and 1970s with not only a string of gold albums, but a hit television series and his signature song, “Moon River” playing on radios everywhere.
But he didn’t stop there…Over his career, Andy had a total of 18 gold records and three platinum records, with movie songs like “Love Story” and “Days of Wine and Roses” seemingly being his specialty. He was also was nominated for five Grammy awards (he even hosted the Grammy ceremonies for several years!), and won three Emmys for his show, “The Andy Williams Show”, which helped launch the careers of such acts as the Osmond Brothers, the Beach Boys, the Temptations, Smokey Robinson, and Elton John.
Andy Williams is survived by his wife, Debbie, and his three children Robert, Noelle and Christian, from his first marriage. He was 84 years old.
