Oh Dear Lord:..MONOPOLY, HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS and ACTION MAN Movies Are Now In Production
Despite the intense hatred that came with the BATTLESHIP movie earlier this year (it still sits at a comfy 34% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), the film made a lot of money. So what happens when a film makes a lot of money? More films like it get released…And that’s why we now have this news.
Joblo is reporting that Hasbro is just signed a three-picture deal with independent production company Emmett/Furla Films to bring the world three new films based on Hasbro products: MONOPOLY, HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS, and ACTION MAN.
Emmett (of Emmett/Furla Films) revealed that the plan is “to make all three properties into family movies with broad appeal,” and hopefully to do it for less than $100 million (that’s almost half of BATTLESHIP’s full budget).
Both companies are hoping to get their first big screen attempt, MONOPOLGY in pre-production by 2013. No word on when the other two films will be made, but something tells me that no one will be rushing them along…
