It is being reporting late this Friday evening that Larry Hagman, the man behind the classic J.R. Ewing on the hit show “Dallas” has died.

The Dallas News is reporting that Hagman passed away at 4:20 p.m. today at Medical City Dallas Hospital from complications of his recent battle with cancer. His family released a statement, saying,

“Larry was back in his beloved Dallas, re-enacting the iconic role he loved most…Larry’s family and close friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday. When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.”

Hagman was not only known for the scheming and manipulative Ewing, a role he reprised over the past year in the “Dallas” revival. His work on television and on stage was loved by millions, including playing everyone’s favorite astronaut, Major Anthony Nelson on the 60s series, “I Dream Of Jeannie”.

Larry Hagman was 81 years old. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years and two children.
