This vintage welcome video from Paducah, Kentucky (date unknown) boasts a town with seven radio stations, cell phone service (wait until you see the phone), local eateries and even computer classes! It’s clearly been edited a bit since the original came out – but the message is the same. Paducah. Is. Cool.

I love how they treat the schools like an afterthought: “Yeah, so you moved here – you’re probably wondering where to send your kids tomorrow!”

Commercials

VIDEO: Courteney Cox’s 1985 Tampax Commercial is ALL Kinds Of Awesome.

The leotard, the huge box, the dancers in the background. The. Whole. Thing. See why Courteney Cox’s 1985 commercial for Tampax Tampons is fantastic.

I also love the line “Now that’s something” which is about as non-commital a thing you can say about something. The flu is something. West Nile is something. These Tampons are something. Love that line.

Wow, I really did a number on my makeup. Oddly enough, most of the things I make fun of are STILL in the SkyMall catalog today.

I just found this video from three years ago, when I a commentary about my obsession (and confusion) over the SkyMall catalog. It actually did air on local NYC television. Wow, I really did a number on my makeup. Oddly enough, most of the things I make fun of are STILL in the SkyMall catalog today. And yes, I’m still obsessed with the catalog. And I still have that SkyRest pillow, (at right) but I have never had the courage to actually take in on a flight.
