It was rumored all last week that Facebook Founder and gazillionaire Mark Zuckerberg had been asked to come on SNL to do a cameo, and meet the guy who played him in “The Social Network.” And then it happened.
Michael Douglas’ Son Says He Would Have Been Better Off Left in Jail
Cameron Douglas, the son of actor Michael Douglas who was arrested on drug charges two years ago, testified yesterday that he would have been better off staying in jail instead of originally being freed on bail.
According to MSNBC, speaking as a witness at the trial of his alleged drug dealer in Manhattan, Douglas told the court that he had no idea of the treatment they had at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, a federal lockup next to the downtown courthouse:
“They provide you with methadone when you’re a heroin addict. I would have been better off if I had stayed at the MCC. I didn’t know that they provided methadone at the MCC until I got back there.”
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to drug charges and agreed to cooperate in a deal that got him a five-year prison term, well short of the mandatory minimum of 10 years for the charges that were brought against him.
While the hearing was supposed to be focused on his drug dealer, prosecutors spent a good amount of time asking about Douglas’ life, which he admitted could have turned out much better:
“I definitely had the opportunity to and I was too immature, too reckless…At some point, those opportunities were closed to me.”
Hulu is Battling Netflix Over “Arrested Development” Rights
As we reported earlier this week, “Arrested Development” is coming back to television with ten new episodes and a feature film! Yet, with that comes a massive bidding war, courtesy of a new late-entry bidder: Hulu.
According to JoBlo, after the announcement, Hulu immediately got in touch with representatives for series creator Mitch Hurwitz and and made their pitch, promoting the fact that “Arrested Development” videos have gotten over 100 million impressions on their site since 2008.
Both Netflix and Hulu have been creating original content for the web (Netflix with Kevin Spacey and David Fincher, and Hulu with Morgan Spurlock), and who knows what the acquisition of “Arrested Development” would do for either.
Disney to Bring Back LITTLE MERMAID, FINDING NEMO, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and MONSTERS INC for 3D
Despite the fact that 3D films are almost definitely heading down the drain, THE LION KING 3D was a huge success for Disney. And with that comes news of new rereleases for other Disney classics.
According to JoBlo, Disney and Pixar has decided to re-release four other films in 3D over the next three years:
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST – January 13, 2012
FINDING NEMO – September 14, 2012
MONSTERS INC. – January 18, 2013
THE LITTLE MERMAID – September 13, 2013
So the question is…in 2013, will 3D even be relevant enough to warrant such a re-release? Or will the fact that these classic films will be back on a big screen enough to draw in a crowd?
