If great operas need tragedy, then look no further than Anna Nicole Smith.
And if you’re looking for the Anna Nicole opera look no further thanthe Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.
“Anna Nicole” which opens next week, even comes with an adult-content warning on the posters.
Says Elaine Padmore, the director of opera at Covent Garden via the New York Times:
“ ‘Anna Nicole’ is a parable,” Ms. Padmore continued, “a bad fairy tale about a character so larger than life she becomes surreal. It’s also very funny, although I don’t think it laughs at her. It’s not cruel.”
