Over the weekend, news came from Russell Brand’s own twitter page that his plane was being denied entry by Canadian customs officials. Choice tweets included “How do you manipulate customs officials?”, pleading to “let me in!”, and finally finishing with “I’m sorry…I can’t enter Canada. We must abolish the borders between our nations AND our minds.”
Well now, it turns out that the whole thing was fake from the beginning!
Well, most of it at least.
According to E! Online, yes, Brand did miss his comedy show at Casino Rama, but in fact, it had nothing to do with customs. Brand actually never left Los Angeles due to a faulty plane!
Due to the backlash for customs and the casino, Casino Rama tweeted out Saturday:
“Ok all, let’s be clear @rustyrockets is still in Cali, he never left, he has no immigration or border issue, it was a tech issue with plane!”
Just to make sure that everyone was clear that that was the truth, Casino Rama spokeswoman Jenna Hunter told the Canadian Press that Brand’s plane suffered unspecified mechanical problems and that he was simply unable to secure a seat on another flight:
“I think he’s trying to be witty about the whole thing, but it really was just a plane issue—it wasn’t a customs issue at all.”
Brand was actually deported from Japan back in May. Would have been funny if it had happened twice…
