Brad Pitt may be one of the biggest A-listers in Hollywood today, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t sympathize with fellow actors in need.

According to MSNBC, Pitt was the guest at a Q&A session at the Cary Grant Theater in Culver City, California, when a distraught man came up to the microphone.

The 30-something struggling actor announced to Pitt, MONEYBALL costar Jonah Hill and the crowd that he was battling suicidal thoughts alone in his car before the night’s event– but the film gave him “a renewed sense of hope.”

An attendee said that while the moment was awkward, Pitt didn’t flinch, saying: ‘Look, man, life is up and down, it’s a vicious cycle, but you have to go through it and deal with that…You can be down, but then you come back up again, and every failure can lead to success.'”

Upon leaving the theater, Pitt even stopped to talk with the guy for a bit and give him a few words of encouragement.
