MythBusters Stunt Gone Wrong Sends a Cannonball Through a House
We all knew that sooner or later, some stunt on “MythBusters” would go wrong. What we didn’t know is that it would be a cannonball flying through someone’s house.
Yeah, so this actually happened…
According to Access Hollywood, producers for the show fired a cannonball, yesterday, at the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department bomb range behind the Santa Rita Jail. The cannonball was supposed to go through a few water-filled barrels and a concrete wall. It instead misfired, passing over the barrels, through the wall, and then took a “very unfortunate bounce that sent the ball skyward.”
But it wasn’t done yet…about 700 feet away, the cannonball then bounced in front of the home, tore through the front door and made its way straight out a wall on the back of the house. It then bounced at least once more and (just like the chicken) crossed the road and smashed the window and dashboard of a minivan.
Sheriff’s spokesman J.D. Nelson said producers have used the cannon that they built at the range more than 50 times without incident. He told the Contra Costa Times that no one was injured and the home’s residents didn’t even wake up from the blast.
Jasbir Gill, the owner of the minivan, said he and his children had just gotten home.
“It’s scary…I was in the van five minutes before this happened.”
All I’m wondering is if the stunt will still be shown on an upcoming episode…
